About Us
Our Name - Kashmir
We are very blessed and fortunate to be sharing this venture together with dear friends, extended family and mentors.
Our kennel name is Kashmir Golden Retrievers. One might look at our name and think that we are die hard Led Zepplin fans :) While we do love Zepplin, Kashmir is named for the Kashmir Valley in the Himalayas, the mountain range in South Asia where the "Kashmir goats" originate. This is where we obtain the luxurious, glamorous wool known as Cashmere....wool very soft and beautiful - much like the coats of our beloved English Golden Retrievers.
So that, in a nutshell, is how we chose our name.

Our "Kennel"
Omaha, Nebraska
Christy and Kayla were introduced to each other in the summer of 2018 by a fellow breeder who suggested Christy might mentor Kayla. What happened to be a one time intro developed into a once in a lifetime friendship and family bond. Kayla’s innate caring and healthcare skills bring a plethora of value to Kashmir Goldens. Christy and Kayla agreed that they are better together and decided to be breeder partners. We are so very excited for our future and we have big plans!
We do not believe in outdoor kennels or dog "runs." Goldens are a very people-oriented breed. All our dogs live in the house with us and are beloved family members! Our seniors have "bed privileges" (sleep with us) and rarely are any of them ever crated - although they are free to crate themselves for some quiet time away from the pack :)
They have the free run of large, fenced yards; complete with bones, tennis balls and fresh running water. They are fed nutritious food and have a wonderful vet! They are our furry kids!

Christy
Christy Brandt resides in Omaha, Nebraska with her husband Todd and their herd of Goldens.
Christy has been actively committed to golden retrievers since 1990 when she started her love affair with Goliath, a dark red American golden retriever. Goliath was an accomplished hunting dog and cherished family companion.
Christy was introduced to the English type of golden retriever by (her x-neighbor and trusted advisor), Cindi Williams of Wyndance Goldens. Impressed with the gentle mannerism and gorgeous conformation she was immediately an enthusiast. Christy has instilled her love of the breed with her six children and is the proud grandmother of two golden retriever "grand dogs", Thunder and Beau Snow.
